The new Deberry / Homer Elementary School consolidates two existing schools to accommodate 960 students from Pre-K to grade 5. The school has been designed as two separate schools maintaining their individual identity with 480 students each in one building with a shared cafeteria, gym and service area. Each school has its own administration, administration spaces, separate entrances, play areas and parking for 165 cars.
Bus drop-offs are accommodated on the project site while Monroe Street has been redesigned with a drop off lane for parent drop-off. Each school has its own playground which includes a separate play area for Pre-K students. The play areas are fenced and gated. Raised planter provide planting areas to support urban agriculture within the community.

Brown + Sardina’s scope of work included building siting, roadways, parking, play areas, plazas, grading, planting and the design of all site amenities.
